The Associa\u00e7\u00e3o de Restauro da Escola Coronel Pinto Ferraz<\/strong> began with the dream of one of its former students to restore and re-open the well known \u201cEscola Coronel\u201d<\/strong> and give it back to the population of Ribeir\u00e3o Bonito. Founded in 1909, the school was listed as a historic site by CONDEPHAAT, (Council for the Defenses of Historical, Archaeological, Artistic and Tourist Heritage) in 2010. He was Dean of the College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University as well as Chief Global Officer. Subsequently he was named Chancellor of the University of North Carolina Wilmington, North Carolina. \u201cZito\u201d Sartarelli was born and raised in the municipality of Ribeir\u00e3o Bonito and attended \u201cEscola Coronel\u201d from 1959 through 1961.<\/p>\n
In 2023 he released his autobiography \u201cGiving Flight to Imagination\u201d in the USA and in August of 2025 made it available in portuguese in Brazil with the title \u201cDando Asas \u00e0 Imagina\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d. Even though living far away from his native country, Zito has always kept his affection and bond to the city which he visits often.
Seeing the decay of the school, closed in 2022 for the lack of suitable conditions to serve as a school, and realizing its architectural importance to the city and to its people, he decided to lead and sponsor its restoration. He invited relatives and friends with experience in restoration, business and finance to assist with the entire process, creating our Association with the specific goal of \u201crestoring\u201d the \u201cEscola Coronel\u201d and giving it back to the city.<\/p>\nAssociation Structure<\/h3>\n
